“Neurons is a gorgeous acoustic piece that’s hard to compare alongside any other form of indie. While it holds qualities from Elliott Smith and Brand New, it contains sounds that are unfamiliar to my ear. I really enjoy the alternative, gothy spin on the acoustic singer/songwriter aesthetic. It’s fun, folky, strung-out and beautifully macabre. After three years of being in production, Neurons was worth the wait and I hope Sulane has more of these treasures in store for me in the future.”

Sulane is JP Krein’s solo outfit, a place where he can comfortably explore his creativity in a therapeutic way. Sulane started as an acoustic project (reminiscent of Elliott Smith and Deer Tick) and developed into a noisy, one-man, post-punk/indie rock experience. This project is loud and very immersive. Sulane sets often have visuals that when paired with JP’s scream, the pulsing bass, and an angsty guitar, create the perfect scenery to accompany lyrics about dealing with depression and personal afflictions/demons. Ad Astra is Sulane’s upcoming album, and is full of electronc drums, bass, synths, grungy guitars, and a mix of clean and dirty vocals, all produced/played by JP. Fans of Siouxsie and the Banshees, Circa Survive, Brand New, and Nine Inch Nails will find just what they’re looking for in Ad Astra.
